Rachel is a London based Cinematographer from the North East of England.
She started out in the industry over 15 years ago, working her way up through the camera department. During her time as an assistant Rachel was fortunate enough to work alongside many inspirational Directors and Cinematographers. Spending over a decade learning from the best in the industry has undoubtedly helped hone her skills as a Cinematographer.
Rachel was a runner on A Cock & Bull Story (2006) and This Is England (2006) soon progressing into the camera department where she worked as a camera trainee on Control (2007). In the following years working as a Clapper Loader on Independent British feature films Bronson (2007), Fish Tank (2009), Wuthering Heights (2011), I Am Slave (2010), Paddington Bear (2014) and numerous multi-million dollar Hollywood movies including World War Z (2013), Red 2 (2013), Captain America: Civil War (2016), The Legend of Tarzan (2016). As a first assistant camera assistant she travelled across America with Cinematographer Robbie Ryan BSC & Director Andrea Arnold for the road movie American Honey (2016) and has worked around the world on many 2nd Unit action sequences: Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (2016), Fast & the Furious 8 (2017), Justice League (2017), Black Panther (2018) & Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018).
Rachel was the 2nd Unit Director of Photography and B Camera Operator on ‘Rocks’ Dir. Sarah Gavron (2020).
As well as shooting her own work Rachel has operated on a number of major studio pictures including; The Batman (DP. Greig Fraser ASC ACS), The Kings Man (DP. Ben Davis BSC) Dune (DP. Greig Fraser ASC ACS) and Eurovision (DP. Danny Cohen BSC). More recently Rachel did B Cam/2nd Unit work on the 4 part drama Landscapers, for DP. Erik Wilson BSC. Erik won the Award for Television Cinematography at this years BSC Awards for his work on the show.
In Dec 2021 Rachel completed principle photography on a 4 part original drama for Left Bank Pictures & ITV, ‘Without Sin’, directed by Al McKay & starring Vicky McClure & Johnny Harris.
Last year Rachel lensed an episode of the I AM....... series for Ch4 with director Dominic Savage, starring Lesley Manville.
Rachel was the Director of Photography on Reggie Yates directorial debut feature ‘Pirates’ (Hillbilly Films/BBC Films/BFI) which received 5 BIFA Long List Nominations in 2021
Rachel is currently prepping two independent features for BBC Films / BFI as well an Documentary Feature, all of which she will shoot in 2022
Rachel was nominated for Cinematography at Underwire Film festival two years running.
